Full Version: Can I use VAAPI only

Just curious what performance I'll got if use VAAPI, only.

I try to play some movie testing VAAPI, by means of disable VDPAU and leave VAAPI enabled.

But I got black screen and audio only.

I use nVidia ION2.

PP: If I use VDPAU must I disable VAAPI? The both options are enabled by default.
no, vaapi just acts as a frontend to vdpau. if it's properly configured, you can use them fine in parallel. now why on earth you would want to do it, that's another thing...

Is there any benefit of using them in parallel?
read what i wrote again. vaapi is just a frontend to vdpau. so absolutely nothing is gained.
