Hi all I currently have an acer rEvo 3600.

Had it for a while and I have always run xbmc Linux on it but I'm not great with Linux and would like a change but. I hear my rEvo won't be great with xbmc windows as it has a low spec?

Also, I need optical out which it doesn't have.

Are there any good alternatives that I can consider or should I even make my own machine?

I hear emachines are good from ebuyer?

Or can. I do something to my r3600 and get optical out?

Thx
I've used a Revo 3600 with Windows 7 and it works fine. On the Revo Win7 takes a lot longer to boot than Ubuntu, possibly because it works the disk a lot harder and the disk isn't that fast, but XBMC runs at comparable speeds on both platforms. However the point is moot because I don't think there's any (cost effective) way to get optical out on a Revo 3600.

Almost any ION or ION2 based machine should be fine. Also you'll find Revo 3610s on ebay at reasonable prices.
