I posted this on the Boxee forums a few years ago, but I've dropped the Boxee platform and started using XBMC full time.
Here I was able to make a make shift solution to watching live TV on Boxee/XBMC by using p. You can read more here

The problem is I have osx Lion and the developer of CYTV seems to have stopped developing the software.
Could somebody test CYTV on Snow Leopard and with XBMC to see if it will work?

If it does work, we could create a py gui wrapper that plays nice and be able to stream our PVRs to appletv2.
