I saw on the roadmap to frodo that you may want to switch from ubuntu as the base for xbmc live to another distro.
I suggestion Openelec. The generic image is small, works well on most hardware and just works. I used xbmc live for a short bit and can say though it is easy to install it comes with some problems... slower boot times, sometimes dropping to shell. I believe basing this on Openelec would make things much cleaner as Srau the head developer already spends time on making a clean, fast, and awesome distro. Only thing I think would be needed before making this xbmc's live disto would be to make the install process a bit easier.
