Hi All,

The title really asks the question. So is it possible to use this ATV2 with a stand alone USB hard drive loaded with movies and tv show in XBMC? Thus taking it with you as a portable unit.

no. The apple tv 2 cannot act as a USB host. This question is in the FAQ. Be sure to check there and/or do a forum search before posting a new question. 9 times out of 10 somebody will have already asked about it.

Your media will have to be stored over the network. Technically you could also keep it on the device, but there's only 8GB to play with on the ATV2 so you prob don't want to do that
