Question for someone with good Linux knowledge.
I have ubuntu 10.10 minimal running xbmc all well and good. I want to try getting a DVB-T2 USB tuner(PCTV 290e) running for LiveTV - but it's only natively supported in Kernel 3.0. (there is a patch process for earlier kernels, it didn't work for me)
My question: if I install the backported 3.0 kernel on to 10.10 to get the driver support for the tuner, will it give me grief in other areas?
For example would all the PPAs I currently use to provide nvida updates, vdpau etc. continue to work just as well as they do now? Would xbmc continue to work as it does now?
Thanks in advance
