I run Arch linux 64, another user and I came to the conclusion that the function call to defaults.pcm.dmix.rate in alsa.conf was causing XBMC to throw Signal 11 when certain movies and TV shows were playing.

When I comment out this function in alsa.conf and restart the ALSA daemon, XBMC doesn't crash but there isn't any sound system wide.

can someone please help me with this? I have it posted on the Arch forums and no one is really helping me over there either. It's a highly annoying problem that I have absolutely no idea how to fix.
