Hi.
I use Linux Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric with two graphics cards (nvidia) configured as separate screens.
I also have remote (Cyberlink) which I want to use with xbmc.

My problem is that I want to use my machine as usual workstation and at the some time allow to output XBMC on TV via HDMI.

I run XMBC with DISPLAY=:0.1 environment variable to force xbmc to show on TV.

Unfortunately then my keyboard and mouse are hijacked by XBMC.

Is it possible to disable mouse and keyboard in XBMC and use them as usual on one screen running xbmc with remote controller on another?
Multiple monitors with XBMC, and Full-screen XBMC without locking the mouse

I am using the above on 10.10...should work on 11.10.

Unfortunately it... doesn't.
AFIK problem is with Unity and Compiz. Unity doesn't support multiple monitors properly.

I will try to learn more about it and find some solution.

Currently I think that the best option is to run multiple Xorg sessions - each on different graphics card and video output.

I will test it and if it will work I will send solution here.
