As I have learned from this thread, WeatherUnderground doesn't work from behind a proxy. The point is, I need to run in behind a proxy. Any idea on how to customize it in order to have a more or less reliable weather display?

disable the proxy setting in xbmc:
Settings > Network > Internet Access
And (in contrary to World Weather Online, which feeds my weather right now) when I run WU all I got are dashes instead of temperatures etc. The location setup is OK, I've even tried to deliberately misspell my location and then I picked the guessed one from the list.
Everything is OK with this location on the WU website anyway. Thing is, I cannot test it without a proxy, since the internet connection I share in my (very) rural neighborhood doesn't work without one, however I did set up XBMC for a friend somewhere else and WU works without a hitch. Any hints on this one? WWO works OK, however it is very sparse with what it delivers (current weather, 3 days forecast, that's all) and WU seems much more powerful.
you can ignore that proxy post.
at the time some people seem to have the proxy setting enabled without actually specifying the proxy server ip address.
which of course was causing issues (in xbmc eden).
in frodo, this has been fixed and xbmc now ignores the netting if not ip address is entered.
to troubleshoot wunderground issues, follow these steps:
1. enable debuglogging in xbmc. (settings > system > debugging)
2. enable logging in the weather addon (settings > weather > - settings > advanced options)
3. restart xbmc and wait a few minutes
4. upload the contents of your xbmc.log file to xbmclogs.com and post the url here

cheers, seems like the proxy server is returning gzip compressed data,
even though the addon is not requesting it.
i wouldn't be surprised if you run into similar problems with other addons as well.
anyway, i made some changes and it would be great if you could test it:
weather.wunderground-1.0.10.zip
Absolutely, I will as soon as I get back home (which is Sunday night). Thank you!
ronie - the 1.0.10 resolved the issue and the Weather Underground now correctly works from behind a proxy compressing the client output. Thank you!

could you get me a full log (not a snippet) with this version:
weather.wunderground-1.0.11.zip
yep, http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=3650
thanx, found out what your issue is.
you have this installed:
script.module.dmd-czech.common
that package contains an outdated json module and that one is used
instead of the json module included in python 2.7 on your system.
the json module should be removed from the script.module.dmd-czech.common package.
it's not needed anyway as it's part of the default python install on all systems.
thanks a lot for your help
Weather works now!
Weather doesn't work for me because I can't change or add location in weather settings. I have tried pushing all the keys of my keyboard when in location settings but XBMC just doen't let me do anything. I have location 1, location 2 and location 3 all empty.
What I need to do to make it work? I have Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and latest stable version of XBMC v12 Frodo and Wunderground app is also updated. I tried the other weather add-ons too but they didn't work either.
Welcome to the XBMC forums.

What happens if you highlight Location 1 and press Enter?
