Full Version: [LINUX] Black fullscreen when using ModeLine added with xrandr

Hi,

I have trouble running XBMC (10.1 from team-xbmc-ppa) in fullscreen mode since I added a Modeline to my X-Server configuration with xrandr.
I am running Ubuntu Natty, which doesn't use xorg.conf at all, so I used xrandr to add a custom Modeline to run my Flat-TV in its native resolution.
This worked just fine and I have my desktop running with this new Modeline active.

Now when I start xbmc I just get a black fullscreen, with the mouse-pointer still visible, and nothing more. I have to kill the xbmc to get back to the desktop.
When I run xbmc from a terminal window I get an error message on the console:
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)

Major opcode of failed request: 135 (Xfree86-VidModeExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request: 10 (Xf86VidModeSwitchToMode)
Value in failed request: 0xb4
Serial number of faild request: 131
Current serial number in output stream: 133

No core-dump. No error entry in the xbmc-debug-log.

If I switch the resolution back to the TVs-default resolution XBMC starts.

I think the cause is related to incompatibility of xrandr and xvidmode extensions of the X-server. Can this be?

I still had no look in the xbmc-code, but I think it uses the old xvidmode-extension to initialize the fullscreen-mode, but my X was configured with xrandr.

Is this a know problem and are there possible solutions?

PC is an Asrock 100ht with mobile Core i3 and hm55-chipset.

Thanks,
Michael
