so i have a problem that alac albums are not shoing in library. flac and mp3 no problem. i am using the latest svn build.

i couldn't find problems similar to my problem. but in file mode the alac files .m4a are playing very nice.

i need this, because i want to delete my flac files and stay by alac for the future.

how can i fix this issue?

The music library reads the file tags. I'd guess that either your alac files are not tagged or XBMC isn't reading the tags. A debug log should help. Make some change to a test directory e.g. rename a file or copy in an extra file - this is so XBMC will spot the change and rescan that directory. Start XBMC and enable debug logging from System settings, System, Debugging, then restart XBMC then wait a minute or two for all the startup tasks to finish. Update the library then close XBMC.

Open the debug log by pressing Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:

"%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log"

(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into http://pastebin.com/ and post the link it gives you here.

@jhsrennie, my alac files have the same tags as flac files. i tried to ad one folder, all folder, over windows network from other pc. the files were scaned but not showing in library. but i can play the files in files mode. but this is not the solution.

with BOXEE no problem. boxee ads the alac files to the music library. there is definitely a problem with pre-eden of xbmc. i also deleted the hole xbmc and maked a new instalation. also not showing in music library.

ok, the log is to big for pastebin, over 500 kb.

xbmc can not read the tags. and there are tags in my files, and the tags are in every software recognized only in xbmc not.

"no tag found" is the problem. but from over 8500 tracks, only 30 tracks are recognized in library, but in advanced tags and in normal tags there is no difference. i need this please, because i ca not use xbmc for music...

found on wiki: "If no Album Artist tag exists, XBMC will use the first (primary) artist from the tracks..." - thats also not true! but i have the tags in every file and every file has album, artist and album artist, genre, year, cover, replay gain...

If you upload a sample alac file somewhere I can download it, I will have a look. I can't remember offhand if XBMC will read the tags from alac files.

This seems to indicate that it's setting the track number (iTrack) as 0, but there's no indication why...
