Hi

I have a problem when I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04. When starting video playback on some HD videos the XBMC freezes. Playback does not start. Music and SD video playback is normal.

It seem the problem is that it is not taking the xbmc from ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba. I installed it from deb files and it is working, but I get upgrade notifications. How can this be fixed?
This will be solved soon. Please also note, that ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba will soon get post-eden(12.0 pre) packages.
If you want to stay with Eden stable code switch to: ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba-eden

Last week i did a upgrade to AMD Fusion A6-3500. I mention some stutter problems with some older .mkv files.
Also PVR does give weird images when watching tv.
So i decided to go back to my ION system. But i got frame drops. Today i was thinking after finding this topic to give my fusion system another try. The overall picture is good on ION.

I am on XBMCbuntu Eden final. So my question is can i use this on XBMCbuntu or do i need to start from scratch? Will it make my system more stable if i compare it to Eden final?
you can just use the Eden ppa from this thread(see post above or the howto)
Owk thx wsnipex for the quick answer i am installing XBMCbuntu just switched from ion to fusion.

Can you try with refresh rates which are closer to video fps?

Hi, tried with a lot of refresh rates. But the error does not disappear. Are there other options?

Could you give instructions to completely remove the amd video drivers so I can try to reinstall the whole thing (display gets to sleep every 5 min too. The suspend resume is present.

Code:
#!/bin/sh

case $1 in
     suspend|suspend_hybrid|hibernate)
        /usr/sbin/service lightdm stop
        /sbin/rmmod -f fglrx
        ;;

     resume|thaw)
        /sbin/modprobe fglrx
        /usr/sbin/service lightdm start
        ;;
esac
First i did spent time reading. But i am not sure where to start as i am already using XBMCbuntu with the latest 11.0-pvr build from pulse-eight packages.

I already added the repository:

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba-eden
sudo apt-get update

What about the app-get install cmd doesn't that break my xbmc?

Code:
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-bin

My gpu: AMD Radeon HD6530D (A6-3500)
Catalyst version 11.11

Would there be any benefit by upgrading the Catalyst version?
I suggest you remove the pulse-eight ppa, uninstall xbmc, then install again(after adding my ppa)

about catalyst: depends, you need at least 11.11. just try with the one you have and see if it works.
hi guys,
I have another problem with XBMC. I have installed successfully following the guide and the .mkv video file and music are played without problems.
When I try to start a .mp4 video XBMC crashes and is restarted automaticcaly. What does it means? How can I fix this problem?
Thanks!
@CrazYoshi:
Please supply a xbmc.log with debugging turned on. Put it into a pastebin (paste.ubuntu.com) and supply the link, please.
Here is the log file: http://paste.ubuntu.com/954659/
Please, let me know why my XBMC crashes with .mp4 files...
@CrazYoshi:

Can you move: Campaign Crack/0718_sc2_rld_1.0.3crack.rar out of the way? :-)
I got a problem installing 64-bit 11.10 Ubuntu Oneric minimal.
When i am at the part partition disks my SSD is seen as SDB instead of SDA
The usb flash drive i use to install ubuntu from is SDA.
So i get an error with the grub bootloader.
Is there a way i can swap it?
