If I have an original xbox dvd remote IR receiver...I can just hook that up with a USB-Xbox converter cable (which I also have) and start setting it up to work with IR remotes right?

Seems reasonable to go with the free option instead of buying a new IR dongle.
I use the Boxee USB remote. I hope it never breaks, as it seems to be unavailable everywhere! Sad

I am using a Rii Touch N7 which works very well. The controls have all worked very well. The blacklight is great at night and the battery life lasts us around a week of pretty solid daily usage.

how do move up down left right and select in the xbmc menus?
Looks like the silver bordered e button at the bottom is a dpad.

Anyone have any experience with this peripad thing? Looks interesting, might be nice for a W8 experience.

Would be better if it had a separate dpad, at least it has the arrows.
Logitech is ditching the Harmony...

I have just ordered this lenovo mce bluetooth remote :
http://www.1stincity.com/en/pc-component...c1043.html
It normally ships with lenovo ideaCentre A600

I ordered it because I have tried a PS3 BD Remote (the old one), and I found that it's really responsive, and it's a real pleasure to be able to use the remote without directing it towards the PC/TV. But I found the key layout of this remote really bad (too much, too small).
The V2 seems to have a better layout, but it seems that it can't be configured to have the Volume/mute buttons work over bluetooth.

I have really no idea at this time how I will make this lenovo remote works with my setup ... I will post here to let you know.

Well that explains why they haven't launch their QWERTY. Great remotes but they started dragging there feet. They should have had a Wifi/RF/QWERTY a year ago.
My ideal remote is the Boxee remote, with an additional back button on the front and back-lit keys, at least on the back but preferably on both sides. I wouldn't say no to a few more keyboard keys and even a little nub mouse (eg, thinkpad mouse) but I realize this is probably hoping for a little much. Considering the Boxee remote is currently out of stock everywhere, I'm very hopeful that they're going to release an updated model with at least the back button. I love the way it combines minimalism with functionality. I've seen a few with similar features in this thread and on Amazon but they all look so complicated. I know I could get by with one, but I shudder at the thought of teaching my mother. Has anybody heard anything about the Boxee remote or seen a remote that is very much like it?
Hi, I am not sure if this has been discussed. But I got the [2] any PS3 Blu-ray Remote 2.0 (~18$) + any USB Bluetooth Receiver (~12$). It works fine except my battery is draining fast specially when my pc is turned on. Are there anyway that when I close the xbmc my remote sleep as well?
You can use PS3RemoteSleep, BDremoteSleep or BTDisco2 with some script to manually hibernate the remote.

You can also use the latest version of PS3BluMote which will hibernate the remote as soon as it hasn't been used for a configurable amount of time.

Have a look at the PS3BluMote Thread for more info about these solutions.

Thanks miljbee.
I am so old fashion...

I do have an Ipad with XBMC Commander and Constellation but not one pleased me...

I must feel a remote in my hand Smile...

Bought a Harmony One some time ago.. to replace my 3 remotes, but wife didnt like it all...
so in our tv table there were 3 remotes and the Harmony.. Wink.. (so i sold it)

I bought the Arctic MC001 htpc (has IR) along with Arctic MCR1 Remote which it turned out to be really crap

(your fingers start to ache after a while - the wheel button in the middle has to be pressed firmly)

and now i am searching for an IR remote that wont have those problems

Does the PS3 v2 remote works out of the box with Openelec? (IR and Bluetooth)

or Does some one has a good suggestion for IR remote that wont make my fingers ache while browsing my 1000+ photos?

(I ask for IR remote cause i want to turn Arctic htpc on and off with it)

Thank you for your time..
I ordered the small Xbox remote for very few $$. I like the fact that it has no number buttons (which I never use)

Anyone knows whether it will work with Openelec?
