I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 with the latest XBMC PVR + TVHeadend 2.12.99~pulse4 on an Intel i3 system making use of the integrated graphics. Today I installed the drivers which allowed XBMC to make use of VAAPI. I originally installed them from the xorg-edgers PPA before finding that there was a bug as in this thread:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=118955

I followed the instructions there and it was solved by downgrading to mesa 7.11. Either before this or straight after (I can't remember) I had tested LiveTV and found it working fine. I then watched a h.264 encoded movie and that worked great too, with the hardware acceleration A-Ok.

But now when I try to view TV with VAAPI enabled XBMC crashes with this error:

http://pastebin.com/DQ1TXdXd

and all objects on the desktop (terminal windows, file system browser, taskbar) are shown as a blank white box. However, this is purely a display issue as I was still able to issue a reboot command from within the terminal.

Any ideas? Thanks.
Bump.

Still happening, here is a debug crashlog from trying to play a recording while VAAPI is enabled. This time XBMC crashed instantly into the desktop and then took me to the user login screen (??)

Further update,

Turning off De interlacing fixed this entirely. There's a couple of commits from last week that look like they're intended to fix this, so woo.
