I have been having the same problems with XBMC crashing and decided to disable all my addons for now and it seems to have stabilised a bit. Try disabling the addons and then enable them one by one.

upgrade to beta2 and see if it helps. Beta1 has some known issues with crashes at start.

Should I upgrade to beta 2 of XBMC or ubuntu 11.10?

In fact, this starts to happen after the last automatic update proposed by ubuntu...

Before this update, XBMC was running very well.

This seems stonage old., so I guess you have a problem with too old addons.
try to delete your ~/.xbmc dir(backup first) and let it be recreated cleanly.

Hello wsnipex, many thx for your support!

I've done these steps:
1 Renamed the directory .xbmc to .xbmc_old
2 Started xbmx
3 crash after a few secounds
4 http://pastebin.com/P9w4fYha
5 Restarted xbmc
6 Start to configure xbmc
7 http://pastebin.com/LKEFTEFF
8 Wrote this post

Please note that these issues started suddenly after last automatic ubuntu update, without any justification, at least for me. Meaning the xbmc have run "very" smooth with these old addons that you identified.

@jpn2 you don't run beta2 but an build from dec 12th - atleast the second crash of yours is definitly fixed in beta2...

If you already have xbmc unstable ppa set up:

https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/unstable

just do a:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

If the ppa is not set up, just do:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/unstable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I was getting crashes on my ubuntu running machine and followed these steps. By the way during these crashes my laptop was becoming unusable and had to restart it, not sure if this solves your problem or you may apply these steps on xbmc live version:
