Full Version: How do you get XBMC to start on Boot

i'm using ubuntu 11.10, i'm a total linux newb. I tried following one post where I was to change a file from Unity to XBMC and it would boot into XBMC but it never worked. was unable to find an easy guide, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't tried this myself so I can't confirm it works, but it may be worth a shot. (Or at least help).

no didn't work for me, ended up causing me not to be able to use terminal just had to reverse what I did. Was worth a shot though if I knew what I was doing it might have worked with a few changes but I know nothing about linux so.. hah
I would try just adding the command (with full path info) to /etc/rc.d/rc.local but if you aren't comfortable with nix, you may want to try this first: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...ptional.29. Scroll all the way down to the bottom.

If I have a few minutes, I'll install XBMC on my Linux VM and see what I can come up with. (If someone who knows for sure doesn't jump in first that is Wink)
So I just went to the basics and went to startup applications, add, went to file system/usr/bin/xbmc and added that. done starts up after boot and goes to full screen. I'm assuming whatever you leave it at windowed/fullscreen is where it will return but it worked for me. I don't understand why everyone got all these codes, and things to change to make it work. Thanks for the help though!
Awesome. Glad you got it going. =)
