Full Version: Upgrading from Dharma to Eden RC2

I usually use the below command to update to the latest version, but it already says I have the latest version installed (I am on Dharma 10.1). I then tried the team unstable repository.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/unstable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc
sudo reboot

I get this error

Code:
xbmc@Revo:~# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/unstable
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 189701DA570C56B9488EF60A6D975C4791E7EE5E
gpg: requesting key 91E7EE5E from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: key 91E7EE5E: "Launchpad PPA for XBMC for Linux" not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1

Any help would be appreciated. Confused
This is what I have in the ppa directory.

xbmc@Revo:~$ ls -1 /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
team-xbmc-svn-ppa-karmic.list
team-xbmc-svn-ppa-karmic.list.save
team-xbmc-unstable-karmic.list
team-xbmc-unstable-karmic.list.save
tvheadend.list.list
tvheadend.list.list.save
xbmc.list.list
xbmc.list.list.save
You probably need to remove the old XBMC lists:

Code:
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/team-xbmc-svn-ppa-karmic.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list.list

then run
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xbmc
Tried that - didn't work unfortunately. Still in same place as I was before.

I now get this when I run the get update command

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
These errors relate to the Ubuntu repository. I have just looked at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/ and the files for karmic are missing!

You could now just try:

Code:
sudo apt-get install xbmc

EDIT: I've just remembered that Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) is no longer supported: it expired April 2011. To proceed, you should upgrade to a later version of Ubuntu, or try XBMCbuntu.
Tried that, but still the same No

Have you tried changing the source.list entries from "http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic..." to "http://old-releases.ubuntu.com karmic..."? When a non-LTS (Long Term Support) version of Ubuntu expires, this is where they apparently move the repositories to. Probably best to move to another supported version though.
