I've noticed when I'm playing DXVA content on my mac mini 2011 it drops frames, but when I play the same file in Media Player Classic Home Cinema it plays fine.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP1 with 8GB ram on an i5 processor. The mac mini has an Intel GPU which I have read to not fully support DXVA.

Any thoughts on how I can get XBMC to playback DXVA material smoothly?

The i5 Mac Mini should be able to play video without hardware acceleration, though high bitrate 1080p might be problematic. The only other possibility is to write to Apple and ask them why they swapped the excellent 320M GPU for a bloody useless Intel. While you're at it ask them to put the DVD drive back.
