Is there any way in xbmc to play online music? i.e. if I upload a couple of albums to my webserver can I point xbmc to said folder on webserver?

You can add a remote directory as a source Music>Files>Add Music, then select a connection type such as webdav, HTTP, FTP, etc. Give it the path and login information and save it as a source.
