I have downloaded and installed the final Eden version of XBMCbuntu. I did af fresh install deleting everything so I am running version 11.10 with Eden.

My hardware is Asrock ION 330 which is running a i386 Atom CPU.

No matter which video file I try to play, XBMC crashes and restart. The errormessage seems to be ERROR: CWinSystemX11::XErrorHandler: BadDrawable
Problem is the same as in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1040852 but disabling UPnP does not resolve the issue for me.

Debug log can be found here: http://pastebin.com/ih8UKEb7

I tried playing one file before I started downloading skins and addons and that video was playing, therefore I have tried disabling all addons hoping that it would fix the problem without any luck.

Any ideas are most welcome
I'm having the same issue with the same error. I was wondering if someone has a fix. I'm thinking it's something to do with the audio but I'm not too sure.
It seems to be related to using audio via Optical cable or maybe something with the Audio Mixer, take a look at http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=126485
I made a discovery today that gives a great result for those using spdif audio with XBMCbuntu on the ASrock ION330.

Mine is a 2009 model and doesn't have the channel problem some seem to.

I did a vanilla install and audio wise things worked out of the box. I got proper pass through surround and sound from everything else including chromium started from the desktop when I logged in there.

On trying to get sound from Chromium launched from Advanced Launcher I had issues as detailed here which got me back to what I thought was the install state - it wasn't.

Trying to play a video with surround sound hung the machine in the video menu.

On further thinking and a bit of research I just deleted ~/.asoundrc and changed the XBMC audio settings to use "Defaults" instead of "Custom > plug:both". If you don't do that last step you get the "failed to initialize audio" error.

Now I get all sound via spdif (which is all I want), proper surround pass through AND starting chromium-browser from Advanced Launcher has sound too.

Hopefully others find this useful.

I suspect it's a small step from there to using HDMI for the same result if that's what you want. I don't have HDMI on my receiver so can't test that.
