Hi all,

Newbie here so please be gentle.

I've been considering running xmbc on my laptop for quite a while now and eden is a good excuse to do so.

here is what i have:

i've got a paid osn subscription and a osn box with hdmi and composite A/V out

i have a sony tv with 1 hdmi in

i also have this hp dm1z laptop with HDMI out which is decent enough to use as htpc

my problem:

since my tv only have 1 hdmi in i have to unplug the cable and switch it back and forth between tv and laptop.

my question:

is it possible to connect my osn box to the laptop and use xmbc to display it into the tv

I imaginie using the hdmi port from the osn box is better but there is no other option to connect it to the laptop but through a usb port which might affect the image quality but analog AV is still an option.

I thought about using an hdmi hub but using the laptop as htpc is i think the ideal way as i dont use my laptop much of the time since i got my phone

any advice is appreciated.
Get a HDMI spillter / hub. Will be the best and easiest option.
If you don't mind waiting, you can get cheap, but decent, HDMI splitters from meritline.com
