Posted this on the end of another thread, but thought it might get missed.

I'm having problems getting analogue audio on my XBMCbuntu box.
I get crystal clear 5.1 - 7.1 surround sound but it never plays back Stereo, not even the bubble bursts

In the previous XBMC Dhama, it worked no problem with help of the .asoundrc file. Oh by the way I'm running XBMCbuntu live installed to my Lenovo ThinkCentre. I decided to switch from running XBMC on top of Ubuntu.

I'm running XBMCbuntu version 11.0 Git: Unknown Compiled on March 24th 2012
Linux 3.0.0-17-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP
Archtecture x686 Intel CPU Dual Core 2 6300 @ 1.86GHz with 2 gig of memory
Installed via USB XBMCbuntu
Debug Log - http://pastebin.com/EfFkHHtu

I had the opposite problem when I was running XBMC 10 Dhama (AC3/DTS output would fail)

Here's my aplay -l

I've been through all the options one by one in Audio Output Device and even tried DMIXER:0,1, dmixer:0,1, plughw:0,1 and PLUGHW:0.1
My pass through device is iec958... and that works fine.

Messed with alsamixer to make sure its not muted but nothing is obviously wrong there, plus XBMC says there is a error when playing stereo content. I also tried the old .asoundrc trick in the home directory, but nothing seems to work

Any help would be great!
Just to report I finally got stereo sound working!

I set the Audio output device to iec958 (ALSA) instead of anything else.
I also enabled every single thing in aplay -l, and installed Ubuntu-desktop.
