My entire DVD collection was ripped using makemkv. The problem I have is that when playing any of them back through my atv2 it plays with subtitles. I can't find how to deactivate them. Have tried holding play on the remote to access the play menu but it won't allow me from there. I have also tried to find it nder video settings bu to no avail. How on earth do I stop the subtitles playing?

The option in the sod is not clickable, ie not working. Is there a way to stop xbmc from reading the subtitle part all together?

Not without modifying the mkv files to remove the subtitle track.

Run MediaInfo (wiki) on one of your mkv's and tell us what it says.
