olympia, I'm trying to download the Universal Scraper on my AppleTV (silver) without success. When I select the Universal Scraper and then select install the downloading dialog briefly appears but then disappears and nothing happens. It does not say "Enabled" next to the Add-On and the Universal Scraper is not in the list of available movie scrapers when setting up content. I have tried restarting and even reinstalling Eden but nothing works. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello, i'm trying this scrapper, but plots were always in english (i'm french). Config by default and config in source is good (i guess...) but no way.

Some french guys here to confirm i'm doing it wrong ? Big Grin

I had the same issue on Windows 7 64-bit. I found that the Universal Scraper add-on can be installed only from an admin account. It will not install if you run xbmc from a standard user account. I think this is a bug as other xbmc add-ons do not have this restriction. Anyway to solve the problem, I installed the add-on in admin account and copied the add-on from the admin account's profile folder to standard user's profile folder.
Thanks for the suggestion. There isn't an admin account option with Apple TV but I could do the install from a zip file if there is one on the repo. Time to look.
Here's two movies it fails to get the English title for when using imdb as source:
"Beast Stalker" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1330525/
"Beast Cops" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0157366/
Blame IMDb :p

I will commit your scraper (xem) soon. However it would be better if you could remove README.md and xem-logo.svg Smile

Having some issues with IMDb grabbing the wrong title or not being found at all. I think it's because they are categorized as 'TV Special'

Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger - London, New York, Johannesburg
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1213574
Not found
Named as '/media/Movies/Chris.Rock.Kill.the.Messenger.(2008)/'

Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1694505
Found as 'La comtesse des no mad?'
Named as '/media/Movies/Comedy.Central.Roast.of.David.Hasselhoff.(2010)/'

Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1413788
Found as 'Comedy's Biggest Thursday Ever'
Named as '/media/Movies/Comedy.Central.Roast.of.Joan.Rivers.(2009)/'

Some of the Comedy Central Roasts are categorized as 'TV Special' and others as 'TV Movie'.

'TV Movie' examples that are successfully scraped
Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1276947/

Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1985970/

Right, 'TV Special' added to search results at scraper version 2.1.5

I found this, but after a few hours of not trying and then trying again it eventually installed OK. I think this may be happening if an updated version is put on the repository. All I can suggest is to keep trying. I did notice an update came down for me yesterday (January 3rd).

Worked previously with the old imdb scraper...
Going to ask this here, as I don't think the other thread is watched anymore.

Is there any way to get the scraper to use a local musicbrainz database for music? I'm running one for headphones, if I could get the scraper in xbmc to use it as well, that'd be awesome.

Edit: would it be as simple as doing a find / replace inside albumuniversal.xml "http://musicbrainz.org" --> "http://localhost:5000" ?

Right... and the reason the old scraper no longer works is because IMDB changed their search.

Now that I'm thinking about it, perhaps the easiest way to do it (which would cover everything running on the pc) would be an entry in /etc/hosts that routes musicbrainz.org to my local server's ip.

Thoughts?

Sure, but I'm talking about picking the correct title, not the search. It picks the correct movie.

If from someone, then it's you (who know very well the scraper insights) from whom I don't expect such a reasoning.

The Universal Scraper use 100% the same function for title parsing what the old IMDb scraper used. So if it worked before and is not working now, than it's due to some changes on IMDb side as well.

If you look at http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0157366/releaseinfo#akas then you see there is no indication at all about what US or International title. How the hell the scraper should know which one is that.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1330525/releaseinfo#akas is a bit better, but also silly...
