I'm still trying to work out exactly how to build my Media Centre.

Essentially I mainly want xbmc to manage my media and play different music in 4 different rooms, not worried about video, will be running xbmc on laptop for that.

So is the following possible;

  1. Run 4 instances of xbmc on one pc to deliver audio only to 4 seperate rooms.
  2. Disable the GUI to help conserve resources on the server (and possibly to help if virtualisation needed for 1)
  3. Open to other suggestions

Any suggestions on the GUI front all I've done so far is add the following to advancedsettings;
<gui>
<algorithmdirtyregions>1</algorithmdirtyregions>
<nofliptimeout>1000</nofliptimeout>
</gui>
