Hello,

I have some issues with slow datatransfer for
1. transfer movie information/thumbnails to my Ipad XBMC remote apps
2. on-the-fly-streaming from my HTPC to other devices

Everything LAN/WLAN action is to slow on the HTPC in comparison
to same workflows on my PC.

The HTPC is a Lenovo Q180 with Gigabyte LAN.

I get a tipp, that the speed problem depends perhaps on not
optimal port settings in XBMC; in XBMC I selected the port 80.

Do you have some tipps for me, how I should set up the port
in XBMC and on my HTPC in order to increase lan/wlan speed?
Is there a software for testing or improving?
XBMC relies on the hos OS for all networking features. If you are having throughput issues I doubt XBMC is the culprit. You should really test your OS's networking. There are tools available. I recently found one that is quite simple to use and gives a good test of network throughput.

NetIO

You will run it from a command line. On the server side you run it with "netio.exe -s". On the client side you run it with "netio.exe -t server", where server is the name or ip address of the server running netio. I ran the Linux version on my Unraid server in server mode and the Windows version on my client PCs to test the throughput and find weak spots in the network.
