What I'd like to accomplish is (if possible) is that my HTPC goes to sleep (not standby, but hibernate) and can resume using the remote.
At the same time IR code needs to be altered so that my XBOX is does not power on each time I turn on/off my XBMC HTPC.

Any help is very much appreciated!

I fixed the power issue by selecting "XBOX remote" under the remote settings on the xbox 360.

Suspend is good enough. I measured the power consumption idle 30W -> supend 3W -> Off 1W
