I have the XbmcUbuntu Eden version (apt-get updated).
When I play movies from a local harddrive I often get a picture freeze but the audio continues. When I use the iOS remove to stop playback it responds (if I do it fast enough) but I can't get to see the main menu. It some kind freeze the interface.
I have an Atom D520, Nvidia ION2 hardware. Display is a Sharp HDMI connected display.
It occurs with all kinds of movie formats, HD, SD, MPEG2, VOB, MOV etc...

Any suggestions about what might cause this problem?
Please provide a debug log.

Check here the debug logging: http://pastebin.com/REYmusqS
There were 2 events in the whole movie that the frame rate dropped to 1~3 FPS and a little distortion.
Of the second event I wrote down the time (21:11 system time, about 55min movie time)
Perhaps because it is running in debug it did not freeze as it "normally" does. Audio did play normally.
More information needed just let me know.
Hope that you can give some tips.
A freeze occured and here is the log: http://pastebin.com/spgH2e1n
On a resume a new video freeze: http://pastebin.com/7tLuLpyt

sounds awfully like the crash others are seeing (vdpau).

Try the 12.04 alpha here, it has some of FernetMenta fixes, works fine on my ion box.

Does the original Apple TV running Openelec 4.0.0 use vdpau?
No.
I am also seeing this freezing, with the audio continuing.

If I let the audio continue, xbmc will eventually freeze. I have a short window of time where I can hit the stop button which will allow xbmc to eventually return to the menu and I can restart it.

This happens when I stream from a home 1Gbit ethernet connection over smb, it happens much more frequently when I stream content off the internet. Sometimes that can stop every few minutes.

This has been happening on the following:

1. Original Apple TV (old hardware) which worked fine with Eden.
2. OpenELEC 3.2.4 and 4.0.2
3. Frodo or Gotham

The same freezing has occurred on any of those combinations.

This is an old thread, but the symptoms are the same, and the software is much newer.

Any suggestions?

Here is the debug log.
One freeze was occurring at 17:14. In fact many happened around that time frame, every few minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions or should I make a new post rather than replying to such an old one?
