XLD is a great tool for converting audio formats. I also use The Tagger for ID3 tagging, also supporting Appe lossless and FLAC.

Under "Rename tools" - http://www.mrrsoftware.com/MRRSoftware/NameChanger.html is free and very useful.

I'm a little confused for XLD. Is this just being used to convert files?

X Lossless Decoder (XLD) is a tool for Mac OS X that is able to decode/convert/play various 'lossless' audio files. The supported audio files can be split into some tracks with cue sheet when decoding.

Im using "Automatic" for downloading (mostly thru rss feeds from private trackers) allso perfekt for downloading subtitles the same way. (http://codingcurious.com/automatic/)

Somehow "Hazel" must be in this list of useful tools. (http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php)
The two ones i mention above are the only ones except transmission (for bt download) i use to automate the whole process from auto downloading, unpacking, renaming and moving to right folder on my nas.
