Hey guys, I'm finally getting around to building my first real HTPC. I have put together a build and would like to make sure that I'm not missing something obvious.

What tasks are you going to use it for?
Just movies for now. Later I might do some NES emulator gaming Smile
Does anybody have any suggestions? I don't want to pull the trigger unless I'm sure this is good.

Thanks Big Grin
It looks good. I mean a bunch of us went with the triple core A6-3500 because it is 65W but it's up to you.

I can vouch for the board and the remote+receiver as I have the same ones.

For the remote you might also wanna look into this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=132960

Because that dongle (I am assuming) sends the power signal as a usb keyboard power button signal so it will turn the computer on from a shutdown. The HP dongle only wakes up the computer from sleep mode.

Looks good
I would also recommend the triple core 65W. The 100W AMD cpus run too hot for my taste.

+100 Tongue
Thanks for the recomendations, but I have an itchy trigger finger, so it's all ordered.

I stuck with the A6-3650 since I want the better performance for 3D. I also changed out the case too with this:

It has pretty decent reviews, and I got a quieter fan just in case.

I've also upgraded the motherboard accordingly to this:

I also went with the remote+dongle in Beers thread. (Looks Awesome. Thanks for the tip)

Can't wait to get it. I'll be sure to post pics when finished Big Grin
A 100W TDP CPU and a mini-ITX case, unless it can hold a large CPU cooler and/or large fans, is a bad combination. You're not going to be happy with the temperatures and the noise.

I changed out the case for the micro-atx in my previous post.

Thanks for the advice though Smile
Ok. I've been thinking about your suggestions so I've cancelled my order. I think I'm going to go with the A6-3500, and a different mico-atx case. I need one thats no more than 17 x 14 x 4 (W x L x H). Does anybody know of one that they really like. (preferably under $70 with PSU).

You guys are awesome Smile
I've updated the first post with my new build Big Grin

I was thinking I might want a micro-atx case since I want the possibility to add a tuner card in the future.

Has anybody used this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6811121100
