I installed XMBCbuntu sometime last month and everything was working great until last week when for some reason XBMC was opening in windowed mode. After I corrected this XMBC never opens full-screen any longer. No matter how I change the settings it always opens like the following picture.

The tv is set to 1360 X 760 @ 60 Hz and I am using a VGA cable to connect it to my laptop. When I have XMBC closed, the desktop interface has no problem displaying at the proper resolution.

I did notice a few other posts about this but never did find a resolution (most of the threads I found were old).

Has who has run into this found a solution?
Did you try an HDMI or DVI cable instead of VGA?
Are there any settings on the TV for the VGA input (scaling options in particular)?
It's an older laptop that only has VGA or Svideo. It definitely is an issue with XBMC since it works fine when I am displaying the main desktop background in Ubuntu.
Try deleting userdata (wiki)/guisettings.xml
Tried that and it still did not work.

In the new screenshot I posted you can see that I have chrome running and that the laptop is displaying a fullscreen image, XBMC is just not taking up the entire screen.

The current version can't handle multiple outputs. Use xrandr and disable LVS before starting xbmc. Is this does not work please post output of xbmc-xrandr.
Perfect!

Running "xrandr --output LVDS1 --off" solved the problem.

Thanks!
