Full Version: Choppy (stuttering) video issue?

I'm running into an issue where video playback appears to be choppy or stuttering. This is visible in scenes where there appears to be a lot of camera movement, panning, action etc.

Settings/Video:
Render Method - Auto Detect
Enable Hardware Acceleration: Enabled
Adjust display rate to match: enabled

I also allow for 10% error in aspect to minimize black bars. This issue seemed to start when loading a video, it would display the video in about 25% of the screen, centered, and extremely small. I fixed that issue by changing the aspect ratio.

Specs are:
-i3-2200
-ATI card
-4GB ram
-Win 7
Here is an update:

Seems to not be hardware related:

If i set Adjust Display Rate To Match: Enabled, the video no longer has the weird stuttering effect, however i see about 1" crop bars on the left and right side of the screen (only show up when playing video)

If i disable this setting, then it fills the screen side-to-side, however when there is motion, i get an effect that looks like "scan lines" running through.

I guess i have narrowed it down to a display issue, what is the optimal set of settings?
make sure you are using true fullscreen rather than a full screen window. settings>video
Same exact problem here. Have tried all the settings. Wes, your recommendation seems to have helped a tiny bit (it wasn't in TRUE full screen mode), but this has not fully solved the problem. This has been gnawing at me for months. It's a very subtle thing, but once you're looking for it, you see it constantly.

If I fire up MPC HC with the CoreAVC decoder, it's silky smooth.

Here's a video showing the difference:

You can check out my post #3.......

-If it doesn't fill up the entire screen, you can use underscan/overscan option in CCC "my digital flat panel/scaling" option to fill up the screen.....

-You can try to fill up the screen using XBMC option too. Click Video Settings button during playback movie to change "View Mode"......if view mode still don't fill the screen, you can try to zoom it and then set it to "Default for all movies".....

You're my hero. This worked. Just installed the latest drivers and made my ATI settings match the ones in your post.
