Patches welcome

Frodo probably doesn't do this - when you add a smb:// source it strips the authentication off, saving it in it's password cache. Only smb:// sources.

The test was done with the nightly build of frodo from yesterday!
But the source was added years ago... Will try and add it again and see if that makes a difference

If I understand correctly, when you add the source, don't fill in the password part, then the first time you connect it will have a window pop up asking for the password (should only do it the first time).

Doesn't matter how you add the source now (the trick you speak of would have worked in Eden though).

Why only for smb:// sources? Would it really be that different for other sources?

Because noone has bothered doing the same for anything else. Patches welcome for that - compare SMBDirectory.cpp and note where it says it requires authentication.
