Wierd issue, but i have isolated it to using the dim screensaver in xbmc 11 eden.
system specs
intel Q6600
4 gig ram
ati 2400HD
dvi -> hdmi cable to samsung plasma
windows 7 32bit
haupauge mce550 dual tuner
i updated the video drivers to the latest version, looked for dynamic settings in the video driver (read some threads around the traps to look for "dynamic" settings in the ati driver).. nothing of consequence.
monitored system temps and load.. cleaned up the dust and put some fresh thermal grease on..
went about troubleshooting this from the beginning.. found when i ran xbmc and media centre at the same time (i use the xbmc addon that closes windows media centre and opens xbmc) i got choppy playback.
tracked it down to if the dim screensave was launched when i was watching live tv from the tuner (or even just with recorded playback)..
would happen even if i triggered the preview of the dim screensaver.. so strange!
