Full Version: Visual c++ Runtime Assertion when scrolling in video library

Hi all,

Brand new to xbmc (2 days or so). I've been running Eden and have encountered an issue when trying to set up my video library. My setup is as follows: all my video files are accessed via network shares. XBMC is installed on my HTPC hooked up to my TV.

Whenever I scroll through my library quickly (this may not be necessary, but its very reproducible when I do this) I'll eventually get a Visual C++ Runtime assertion. The error reads as follows:

Assertion failed!

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe
File: libavformat/utils.c
Line: 2195

Expression: s->chapters[i]start <= s->chapters[i+1]->start

I checked the log, but I'm unable to determine what the error message means. I've copied it to pastebin:

http://pastebin.com/bDm0aRwD

At the bottom you can see several of these errors written to the log as I caused it, ignored it, caused it again, etc.

Anyone know whats going on here?

well you can disable metadata extraction in video settings.it is trying to generate a thumb for one of the files and this file trips the media decoder library.
Will this mean I lose all my thumbnails?
