I'm sure this is stupid, but i've searched and come up blank.
Just installed the latest nightly (19th Sept) which has PVR. However i can't find the PVR add ons anywhere. Where are they?

The PVR addons are binary addons, and as such they are not to be found in the xbmc addon repo at this time. The official PVR addon repository is here:

As you can probably guess by looking, this is the source code for the pvr addons; so you have to compile them yourself for your specific system. If you search the forums you may find a few people hosting links to compiled versions. One such place is here:
http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/xbmcpvr.html. I see you're in the Mac forum though so I'm guessing the windows and linux builds won't help you much.

I know openelec has add ons in a repository, can they be used somehow?
hahahaha, surely you are joking. openelec is linux, OSX is drawin.
