Is Windows Home Server 2011 capable of running any Windows application (i.e. that runs on Windows 7)?

I have a Win7 all-in-one HTPC but plan to split it into a media server and front-end HTPC. It currently runs background applications like MediaPortal TV Server, Plex Media Server, Google Music, AudioGalaxy, uTorrent, Sabnzbd and eventually even a DB/Webserver (i.e. MySQL, IIS). I'm considering WHS + FlexRaid because I hope to still run all these applications on my media server. I've googled but haven't a clear answer, so was hoping someone could provide some insight. Also, is there a problem with running all these apps on a media server with WHS + FlexRaid?
whs is basically windows so yes it will run w7 apps. As for flex raid I don't have enough experience to help you.

My question was about application compatibility for WHS2011 & FlexRaid, if it wasn't clear. I run many applications on my Win7 HTPC and want to ensure there are no downsides or incompatibilities if I continue running these on a WHS & FlexRaid box. The question was not about installing FlexRaid on WHS - that I am comfortable with. Before investing in a media server, I want to benefit from the experience of the community to make sure it can do all that I want it to efficiently and effectively.

Thanks, Ragg. The answer seemed obvious but I had to be sure.
What are the advantages of replacing W7 with WHS? Seems like you could just add flexraid and keep your existing setup.

I'm keeping my existing HTPC and adding a new media server to expand with multiple HDDs.

To answer your original question: Yes, all your Win7 applications will run without any issue on WHS.

As Mallet points out, you should probably think carefully about using WHS over Win7 (or Win8): http://arstechnica.com/information-techn...-mourn-it/

That being said, I haven't run Windows since ME - so take my advice with a *huge* grain of salt Smile
I am keeping my eyes on Windows 8 as a home server

I want to see how Storage Spaces pans out for this.
