I'm new to XBMC and have a little problem with my setup.
I'm using Debian Testing x64 with Gnome and Kernel 3.2.0.3 and installed XBMC from Repo.

XBMC works great except the video section. When I enter videos I miss the button "Add Source" or "Add Videos".

The Font errors shouldn't be the problem but the lines with "ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting library://video/ "
I cleared the libraries (under settings) and tried to add a source manually in sources.xml but they don't appear in the frontend.
All I get under Videos is the empty folder structure: ".."
I deleted the .xbmc folder in my home directory but this did not fix the problem. And also tried to reinstall it completely.
I searched the forum and google. And found an old thread
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=107622 but without any solution to the problem.
Any suggestions?

You don't have the system folder available.
You mean /usr/share/xbmc ? Sorry I don't get it.
I have 755 on /usr/share/xbmc and all child-directories.
What exactly do you mean with "you don't have the system folder available"? Where should the system folder be available and what exactly is the system folder?

At the top of you log it will list the location of special://home/
Inside that should be a system folder. You don't have any of them, thus the reason fonts (and a whole heap of other stuff) don't work.
I found the entry and my system folder.
my home dir is /home/username/.xbmc (as default)
inside this I found the following directories:

All with 755 (rwx,rx,rx)
The system folder was empty, I copied all files from /usr/share/xbmc/system into my system folder in my home dir.
Nothing changed. I changed the permissions to 777, nothing changed.
Am I missing more folders? Which folders and which content should exist?

Same problem here. Missing "Add source" in Video section on fresh install of LinuxMint Debian and xbmc from repos (XBMC 12.0-ALPHA3 Git:Unknown)
Every other sections have there "Add source" and work like a charm. This is true with all skins I tried.

Again, it's a problem with a missing system/ folder. Find where it should be on your machine (ask whoever provided your LinuxMint packages) and ensure they're installing things properly.
JMarshall -- thanks for the reply. I'm not as familiar as you are with XBMC, this is my first try running it. I get it that maybe the package maintainer has not got things installing right, but what can we do to try and fix it on our machines?

I found a workaround for current Linux Mint Debian Edition , but will surely work for Debian testing also :
add
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ wheezy main non-free to your /etc/apt/sources.list file
then
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
this will use a more up-to-date package and Xbmc is now working as it should : absolutely perfectly !!!
