I think this would just appeal to the British, but would it be possible to automatically dim the lights and play the video below before the start of each movie?

Sure can, with the Cinema Experience add-on. Haven't looked into home automation stuff required for dimming the lights but there are probably add-ons for that as well, or arduino scripts.
