hi guys I have port forwarding for port 80 to my xbmc box (ps my web server on xbmc is running on port 80)

however my xbmc box is not responding, im guessing it has been setup only to allow local access how can I change this?
Really wanna do this? http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=144110

I wouldn't.

yes I still would, how is it done?
You need to create a freedns thing, I wouldn't use port 80 because port 80 is normally bummed by isp.

http://dyn.com/ create one for the internal ip you exposing on router/forwards ports etc. set it up and go, be hacked, have all your networked machines hacked.

The it should work.

Im not responsible for loss of data or anything that may happen to any of the machines possibly affected by potential attacks.

I am already doing that, well something similar, I have a vlan setup so my media network is segregated.

I haven't tried 8080 yet however I am guessing something in XBMC's go-ahead web server is blocking it as apparently virgin media my isp dont block port 80

A hacker would not be able to get past the application so all they could do is look at my media.

I am thinking crawling though go-ahead config file is the only real option
