Hi,

I just installed the latest version of ubuntu (12.04) and xbmc on my zotac zbox. The specs are as follows:

Model ZBOX-ID36BR3D-U
Chipset Intel® NM10 Express
Cooler Type Fan (Single Slot)
CPU Socket N/A (Integrated CPU)
Dimensions • Length: 7.36in - 187mm • Width: 11.02in - 280mm • Depth: 1.5in - 40mm
FSB 800 MHz
Memory Size Up to 4GB
Memory Slots 2 x 204-pin DDR3-800 SO-DIMM
Memory Type DDR3 800 SO-DIMM
Onboard Audio Analog Stereo, Digital S/PDIF, 8-channel high-definition audio via HDMI
Onboard LAN 10/100/1000Mbps, WiFi 802.11n/g/b (300Mbps)
Onboard Video Next-Generation NVIDIA ION™ w/512MB DDR3

I originally streamed my videos from a network server, I thought that may be the problem so I tried a local copy with no improvement. It seems that about every 2 seconds or so, the video skips/drops frames. Audio is fine.

I tried a different video with the same results. 720 videos seem to be fine.

I am able to play 1080P videos on the same zbox with VLC without the stutter. I have tried to adjust many of the xbmc video settings without any luck.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

What makes me wonder is that vlc is working.

Try the following:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-*
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current libvdpau1

Under Video->Playback:
Only enable VDPAU in the video decoder section.

Thank you! That seems to have fixed the "stutter" issue.

The one thing though, Im not sure if this was caused by the recent changes or was existing...but it now seems "jittery". Like when a scene is panning, it does not stutter, but does not seem smooth.

Im going to play around a bit more.
