Hi,

I'm trying to get an Apple remote (latest version) working on a Windows 7 PC, in order to control XBMC.

I've tried two programs, EventGhost / IR Server Suite which both should pickup/learn a command when you press a button on the remote - but they both either time out or just do nothing, so it seems like the commands arent getting anywhere.

I purchased the remote from Apple, and I then purchased this IR Reciever/remote from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRIXES-Remote-Co...=8-2-fkmr0). If I use the remote that came with the receiver, this works fine and control Windows out of the box as well as IR server suite receiving the commands etc.

Any ideas where I'm falling down or going wrong Sad ?

Thanks,

Dave
Anyone? Sad
The remote and receiver from Amazon are guaranteed to work together.

A remote and a receiver won't talk / understand each other unless they were designed to work together. Otherwise all remotes would be Universal remotes. The receiver is probably getting the signal from the Apple remote, but has no idea how to translate that code into anything..

Hi,

Ah, damn. I (stupidly) presumed that the receiver would just receive any commands and pipe input to the PC, then it would be some software's job (e.g EventGhost) to read this input and translate it.

Is there a receiver that would work then? How about the Mira receivers - although they are designed for Mac? (http://twistedmelon.com/mira/hardware.html)

Thanks,

Dave
Bump for Mira? Big Grin
bump for me too!!??

i have a spare apple remote and would love to be able to use it with my windows7 pc. is there an IR receiver that i can buy that will work with the apple remote and xbmc for windows??
I'll test my Apple remotes tonight with my UIRT receiver and Microsoft RC6 ones via Eventghost.
