I have had enough of the laggy AC Ryan Mini.

Wanting to build a Group #6 HTPC (SABnzb, SB, CP, uTorrent) which will be connected to a NAS (conceptronic). The system has have a low power consumption (24/7 system) but may not be laggy.

After extensive reading on this forum and on several other fora I have come up with the following setup:

* Streacom F7C Evo Chassis
* Mini-box picoPSU 90 + 80W Adapter Power Kit
* Asrock B75M-ITX
* Intel Celeron G550 Boxed
* Scythe Kozuti 40mm Super-Low Profile
* Kingston ValueRAM KVR1066D3N7/4G (4 GB)
* Samsung 830 series SSD 64GB
* Club3D GeForce 210 Noiseless edition
* Sony Optiarc AD-7800H Black

Questions:
1. Are there any errors in this setup? Tips?
2. Will the PSU and adapter be sufficiently powerfull?
3. Is the Club3D GeForce 210 Noiseless edition necessary for a lag-free experience?
4. Linuxbased or Windows?

Tnx
1. No errors I can see other than to double-check the clearance on the heatsink/fan.

2. I would spend the extra $3 and get the 90W AC adapter kit if it's available.

3. In general, there is no need for the video card since the built in Intel HD Graphics is plenty for HTPC.

4. It depends on what other functions you want to perform.
Hi. I have a very similar setup (same CPU and mb). First of all I'd suggest to go with stock cooler - it is very silent when adjusted in bios. If you'll be not happy you can always add it later. Another thing - try first without discrete gpu. A lot of people claim it can handle 1080p perfectly with integrated graphics (in my case however some 1080p files stutter in some intense scenes, like 5% of files).

Since you are planning to bitstream HD audio, this $29.99 "SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6450" fanless and low power discrete GPU will give you better HTPC experiences.....with DVD-ROM and a discrete GPU, I'm recommending this "picoPSU-150-XT/12.5A 150W AC-DC" instead...

His G550 has built-in Intel HD graphics. It is the same specification as the Intel 2000 HD graphics except without 3D and QuickSync. It will perform lag free and bitsteam HD audio. There is no need for a discrete video card. I suggest to try the integrated graphics and if you don't like it add a discrete card later.

I know, because I have a similar G530. I thought that he can have a better GPU for $29. He might not find another deal like it. Since HD6450 work well with XBMC DXVA2, it'll be less stress on a CPU too. As you can see, some users struggle with 1080P on Intel iGPU without XBMC DXVA2 enable.....

Slightly OT but about the G550:

Intel's pricing kind of cracks me up. Look here: http://ark.intel.com/compare/53480,53418 The G550 is basically the G620 with 1MB less cache but $20 cheaper. It also comes with the same GPU as the i3-2100 except without Quicksync/3D for $60 cheaper. Not bad for something you can get at MicroCenter for $35 or elsewhere for under $50.
The height of the cooler can be 42 mm at the maximum because of space limitations in the streacom F7C Evo case. I have searched for the dimensions of the stock cooler and as far as I know they are 50mm h (including cpu) x 90mm l x 90mm w. Unless I am a miss, the boxed cooler will not fit.

By the way, is the Celeron G550T an option? It has a 35 Watt TDP, but the Clock Speed is 2.2 GHz and the Graphics Base Frequency is 650 MHz.
