Full Version: Choppy playback only if menu not present

Hi all,

this is a weird one: Playback with XBMC on Ubuntu 12.04 stutters with every kind of video (sd, hd, anything). But as soon as I go to the menu the playback in the background is smooth as silk. This happened over night, and I never had this problem before. Using the standard movie player of ubuntu the videos play just fine.

My guess is that VDPAU is turned off as soon as the menu disappears, but why?

Any ideas?

Ubuntu Linux 12.04
XBMC 11.0 Eden from the main repository, nothing fancy
Shuttle XS35GTV2 Barebone (Intel NM10, 800MHz, DDR3 Speicher, SATA, USB 2.0)
Next-Generation NVIDIA® ION™

What version of nvidia driver do you use ?

I have pretty much the exact same setup as you (but am since recently running the Frodo beta)
I changed the driver version in 'additional drivers' and now it's working. can't figure out which version it actually is. Thanks!
