Posted about this earlier, with no log. So now I am posting with one.

When I play movies, particularly 1080p films, loud scenes' audio is replaced by very loud crackling. This is eliminated when I lower the volume via XBMC to around -7.3db.
My setup is as follows: motherboard HDMI out, to Panasonic television. No receiver in the middle or anything. I don't have anything enabled in my Audio Output settings.

Audio output: HDMI
Speaker configuration: 2.0

Can't isolate the problem any further than that. This has occurred on TWO identical motherboards.

Any help would be appreciated.

The problem occurs directly before I stopped the playback:

Bump up.
I have the same problem here.
Config : Frodo Beta 1 / Atom / HDMI 2.0
So, I had to replace a screen, and I did an update to Frodo.

As a result, XBMC said: Hey! New drivers!

And I had the same crackle issue. (me: Win7/Frodo)

Here may be your problem: Your audio in XBMC (for whatever reason) changed, and is being recognized as "Direct Sound xxxxxxxxxx"

Here may be your fix: Change that audio to "WASAPI xxxxxxxxxxxxx"

No more crackle. At least for me.

You will find all this at : System / Settings / System / Audio Output (Audio Output & Passthrough Output)

I don't have that option, zebraitis.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue...
Any devs around?

Check out this post #2....

I'm using HDMI though...

Just tinkered with audio playback settings during the video scenes with crackling audio. Found no solution.

I know....in case it show wrong audio output there, you can change it back to HDMI....

Are the audio settings in the system settings look okay? It would be Intel HDMI output on your HTC instead of AMD as shown below....

or try the settings below-

It didn't show the wrong output, it was set on HDMI.
I'll try the boost volume level on downmix though.
It worked. Thanks bluray.

I'm glad that you got it to work.....Nod

Every HTPC is different in many ways.....one of the guy connected his HTPC using HDMI, but he got his to work with Analog settings in XBMC....
