If I am not mistaken the api doesn't give results if you search by aka titles.

Calling me lame for not having the time to add 1500 titles myself (I have a huge collection) in a database, (when the data already excists another place), whell that just lame.

I am sorry, but I can really believe that the the 20% of your movies is 1500 titles. That would be a really large collection.
Other than that we don't really have time either, but this is our hobby. If you collect movies, then this must be your hobby too. So let's invest into your hobby instead of wanting everything for free and/ or waiting until other people do it...

Ah, looks like you're right. That's not the key part of my fix though, I should be able to revert back to the web search.

http://imdbapi.org/ - This API seems to be well documented and allows searching by title!

FYI... if your referring to imdbapi.com, you can search by title now.. example: http://www.omdbapi.com/?s=Star%20Wars&r=XML

.... hopefully this will be of some use!

I, at least, was talking of the internal imdb API (I'm pretty sure olympia was too). It, like the two external ones you linked, fails to work with AKA titles.

Taking your example, consider, let's say, in Italy "Star Wars" is known as "Guerre stellari" (according to imdb):

http://www.omdbapi.com/?s=Guerre%20stellari&r=XML
no hits

http://imdbapi.org/?title=Guerre%20stellari&type=xml
one hit, but wrong

http://www.imdb.com/xml/find?xml=1&nr=1&...20stellari
20 hits, none right (and this is the internal API.)

http://www.imdb.com/find?q=Guerre%20stel...n_al_tt_mr
ding ding ding! Web search wins.

That's basically what it comes down to.
@scudlee: my bad, I didn't notice the ' AKA ' ... all I saw was title, sorry.

Don't bet on this.

Can you please elaborate on this?
Hi I know this may be a noob question but I have searched via Google and also put in every combination of words to search this forum but have not found an answer.

Thanks XBMC team the IMDB scraper has been updated but it still appears on the disabled list and the "update, Uninstall and Enable" options are still greyed out and cannot be selected.

Is there a way to SSH to ATV2 to manually remove the IMDB scraper add on so that this can be re-installed from the repository again ?

Please could somebody please point me to the instructions or explain how to achieve this task.

If there is another reason why this is still on the disabled list and cannot be enabled could that question also be answered?

Thanks

Simon

The answers are in this thread.

The Universal Scraper has been updated. The IMDB scraper is still broken.

It'll still be broken, no matter how many times you reinstall it or from which repository.

Use a different scraper that works, such as the aforementioned Universal Scraper or the default TMDB scraper.

Because it's still broken. Read this thread for the why.

Thanks for the answer

I will continue to use the working scrapers until/or if there is a fix for the IMDB scaper

I do understand the problem as I had already read the thread.

I mean odds are pretty high that IMDb scraper will not be fixed. Universal Scraper can completely replace it.
It provides the same functionality and more, so no need to have an IMDb scraper.
IMDB did update today for me but still fails on finding my new videos, I can go into files and right click on a new video and choose video information and IMDB will still fail on finding the movie on IMDB.COM
Morning all,

I had a thought and wanted to share, as I understand it the TMDB is user generated for the info it contains. So my thought was, would it be possible to take the movies in your collection that have already been scrapped by IMDB and somehow automate the importation of that data into the TMDB? I say automated because my collection is about 1700 movies and while a portion may already be listed (I haven't checked) it would be very time consuming to manually import it all to TMDB. If this is possible already or have thoughts on this, please let me know.

Thanks!
I don't know if this could be useful to fix the scraper, but on December 1st FileBot (hosted on sourceforge) team tweeted:
"IMDb Scraper broken. Fixed with the latest test jar."
I know it's a TV show renamer, but maybe someone could take a look to the source code and see how they fixed it.
