Full Version: Video naming convention for stacking and imdb

i have discovered that naming files after their exact imdb title (ie. "aviator, the (2005)") pulls up the correct thumbnail and imdb info.

but i'm trying to figure out how to name and stack these. naming the movie "casino (1994) 1" pulls up something altogether different. i've tried "casion (1994).a.avi" and it just doesn't stack it.

ideas?
if it gets a few wrong you can do them after individually.

delete the offending entry dark blue button
go to the files view while highilghting the movie you just deleted the database entry for press the white button and select movie information. this will go to imdb and get the info. if there are multiple matches it will give you an option to select the correct one.

as for the naming convention for stacking try doing a search in the online manual. i have only used vob files (dvd rips) and not multiple avi's or mpeg's

the other option is to create a nfo file with the url of the movie entry from imdb in it - again see the online manul about this for more information.

have you tried using "-part1" and "-part2" ? they should stack correctly but im not sure if you'll get 100% match on imdb.

online manual:
"if the movie folder contains a *.nfo file containing the url to the imdb info xbmc will pick it up to find info on the movie

example:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0333766"

i have tried exactly this: a text file with the imdb path in the first line,  renamed movie.nfo.
can you be more precise, i can´t make it work
thanks

-part1.avi &  -part2.avi (etc.) will work, so will _part1.avi &  _part2.avi, .part1.avi &  .part2.avi, -cd1.avi &  -cd2.avi, _cd1.avi &  _cd2.avi, and .cd1.avi &  .cd2.avi Wink

ps! you can also add your own stacking-rules using regexp via "videostacking" section in xboxmediacenter.xml (do a forum search from 'the beginning' for "regexp").

you don't call the file "movie.nfo" - you give it the same filename as the movie file but with an .nfo extention instead of .vob or .avi etc.

(i think!Wink :d
in a multi part movie, i believe you need to name the nfo file after the first part.
