Hello,

I have an old mac mini 1.6 core duo osx 10.6 with a Crystal card in, I am trying to get Beta 2 to work and all it does is crash and says report or relaunch.

I have had a good search but can't find any thing and obviously I can't or don't think I can paste the crash report as xbmc doesn't actually start Sad

Help please...
XBMC might still be generating some kind of log file (wiki) that you can post in the split second it tried to start up. Also, when it says report or relaunch, click on report and it should allow you to copy the report text to pastebin.com, and then tell us that link too.
Sorry about the delay

http://pastebin.com/nvcZYysd is the error reporting to Apple..

Could not see any error logs created by xbmc Sad

My amateur skills tell me that your xbmc version is too new. V 12 requires 10.6 or later. Your mac os version is 10.5.8 .. Try downloading Eden v11.0 http://xbmc.org/download/
Ahh, thats pants then Sad I didnt want to go any higher as I think the Crystal isn't supported in 10.6 or higher?

I already have eden running but wanted to try Frodo.
what activate said.
I'm running Crystal HD in 10.6.8, no problems.

On an old mac mini? if so how does it run?

Cheers.

I run a Crystal HD BCM70012 in a "mid 2007" Mac mini (1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo) with Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I'm using driver/lib version r172, it's not 100% perfect, but it's pretty good. There are problems with 720p @ 59.94 but most other material runs fine, including 1080p.

Sleep/resume works for me, but it has been disabled in later driver/lib versions.

The driver/lib isn't actively developed, no changes since October 2010, http://code.google.com/p/crystalhd-for-osx/source/list.

When the Apple TV2 was released and became supported by XBMC, I think a lot of the motivation for maintaining Crystal HD vanished, I wouldn't expect any fixes unless a new dev picks up the code. I've considered having a go at it myself, but I haven't coded in C for years and my audio/video/Mac/XBMC knowledge is pretty much nonexistent. Upgrading to a more powerful Mac mini is a lot easier ... Wink
