Hello,

I'm trying to get the sound on the optical device, not on hdmi, but there is no choice to make it work. I've tried on debian and with live, it's the same problem. Numeric or HDMI put the sound on HDMI only. The optical have no red light. Have you any idea to get sound throught optical ? This is the only way for me to use my 5.1.
Thanks

Here is my audio device :

i'm on the x64 version of xbmc
I'm trying to get back to 11.0 Eden, but i still have the same problem. Does someone has already make the sound work on the optical device ?
Maybe you have to configure your BIOS to use the optical out instead of HDMI.
as long as alsa doesn't see any optical device, xbmc cannot either.
I guess you already tried all available devices? maybe its just incorrectly labled
I dont see any optical devices on that aplay -l only HDMI so I echo what wsnipex just said.

You're right i've forgot an option in the Bios, I need to put HDA on "auto".
It works immediatly with Frodo RC Now.
Thanks a lot !
