Hi Guys,

I'm noticing a problem with a number of my video files in XBMC 11.0.

When I seek using Up, Down, Left, Right, the audio will continue to play, but the video stutters and repeats a few frames over and over, until it catches up and starts playing again.

Here is a video showing what I mean (I hit RIGHT twice in the video):

It happens on all my setups:
A6-3500 (Windows 7 64 Bit) Eden
A8-3850 (Windows 7 64 Bit) Eden
Foxconn 3500 (OpenELEC 2.0)

Below are the specs of one problematic videos:

Container and General Info:
BDAV: 1.50 GiB, 42mn 20s
Maximum Overall bit rate: 35.5 Mbps
1 video stream: AVC
1 audio stream: AC-3

First Video Stream:
4,114 Kbps
1920x1080 (16:9)
23.976 fps
AVC ([email protected])(CABAC / 3 Ref Frames)

First Audio Stream:

640 Kbps
48.0 KHz
16 bits
6 channels
AC-3

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks,

Owen

Anybody?
Last try...

Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Seems to be with the file types...
No idea. Can you post a debug log (wiki) of when you play these movies?
Will do tonight!

Thanks Ned
Thanks Ned

Here's my log:

I started playing LOST S01E01 and then pressed Right a few times, followed by Up to navigate and recreate the stuttering.

Any help would be appreciated!

Owen
Clearly, Jack is just dancing because he's happy.

I'm not really sure when it comes to the nitty gritty details on video decoding, but if I had to venture a guess based on the video and the debug log, it might just be freaking out until it comes across what's known as a reference frame. It could be specific to your hardware video decoder (normally apart of your GPU), or perhaps XBMC is somehow skipping this data for a short moment. One of the devs or more video codec minded users will need to shed more light on this.
